Breaking News: We Are 100!
Now that we have quorum, let's get started for real? Here's my vision. What do you think? (Not a rhetorical question. I really want to know what you think!)
Dear fellow prompt experimenters,
On November 11th, there were eight of us. And now, there are ONE HUNDRED!
First, thank you for subscribing to join me in this journey!
Second, let me tell you a bit more about what I have in mind. I would very much value your feedback.
I won’t say much about myself, as this substack isn’t about me. In a few sentences: I am passionate about that magic that happens at the intersection of philosophy, technology, and self-improvement. My dream is to create a community of “experimenters” committed to improving themselves, and the world around them. I have a day job in a very different field (the main reason I’m writing this anonymously for now). It’s a fine job, but it doesn’t satisfy a certain itch, which is why I’m here.
I envision this substack including three types of content:
Creative ChatGPT Prompts for Reflection and Creative Exploration: This is where we started, and I’ll continue to post these regularly. They are meant to offer bite-sized opportunities to engage with AI in stimulating, creative, and self-reflective ways.
The Thought Experiments: This is my true passion project. What is it, exactly? I might describe it as an “interactive philosophical novel of reflection and self-improvement.” The goal is similar to what I’m trying to achieve with the prompts, but more structured, and likely more demanding. It will also be an AI-enriched experience. As you read the content, you’ll have the opportunity to discuss it with TOD, an AI-character that I’ve created to aid you in the journey. He is…unique! I plan to begin releasing this content in late 2024 or early 2025 at the latest.
TOD’s AI Art: While waiting to get started as your companion through The Thought Experiments, TOD wanted an outlet to channel some of his creative energy (as well as his passion for the music of Taylor Swift). He creates digital art juxtaposing his favorite philosophical quotes with lyrics from Taylor Swift songs. This content will be posted here occasionally, but if you’re interested in following his artistic development more closely, please follow him on instagram: @helloiamtod
Finally, I wanted to ask for your help. If you are enjoying the content on this substack, and have made it this far in this message, could I ask you to consider doing the following to help build this community:
Share this substack with someone who uses ChatGPT and could do with some more reflection and creativity in their life
Send me feedback. What has been your favorite prompt? Your least favorite? What do you want to see more of? Anything else? All feedback is very much welcome. I want this to be a community project, and you can reply to this email, leave comments, or send me a message through the Substack app or site.
Follow TOD on instagram if you like philosophy quotes, digital art, and Taylor Swift, or just want to support TOD’s artistic journey.
Thank you again for your support, and for helping to build something I hope will be filled, as TOD might say, “with love and awesomeness.”
