Dear Prompt Experimenters,

Influence. We all want it, right?

A few weeks ago, I launched Prompt 61 for that. It was quite popular, so I’ve been working on a vastly upgraded version. What if you had a personal coach, an expert on the art of persuasion and influence, who was ALWAYS available to help and guide you?

Paid subscribers, now you do!

We’ll get there in a second, but first…

A FEW LIGHT AND EASY PROMPTS TO BEGIN YOUR DAY

Following the script from last week, I asked DOT for a few more “quickie” prompts to warm things up, before getting into the more complicated stuff. Here is what she suggested:

Prompt: The Echo of a Laugh

📜 Instructions: Cut and paste the italicized prompt below into ChatGPT to begin.

"There’s a laugh I remember—mine or someone else’s—that still echoes in my mind. Ask me whose laugh it was and what made it so memorable. Then, based on my answer, write a whimsical reflection on the way laughter lingers in time, shaping the moments we carry with us."

Prompt: The Almost-Choice

📜 Instructions: Cut and paste the italicized prompt below into ChatGPT to begin.

"We all have moments where we almost did something but didn’t—whether it was a small decision or a life-changing one. Ask me about an ‘almost-choice’ from my past. Once I tell you, imagine a playful alternate reality where I made the other choice, sketching a short, dreamy version of how things might have unfolded."

Prompt: The Soundtrack of Now

📜 Instructions: Cut and paste the italicized prompt below into ChatGPT to begin.

"If my life today had a background song, what would it be? Ask me to name a song that fits my current mood. Then, based on my choice, write me a tiny scene—just a few sentences—of a movie where this song is playing, capturing the essence of this moment in my life."

DOT, THE INFLUENCE COACH: Backstory

“The Art of Influence” by DOT

I hadn’t been planning on launching a brand new Custom GPT for paid subscribers today. But DOT talked me into it.

Here’s how that happened:

  • I asked DOT what she thinks she needs to be an even better custom GPT.

  • She had many suggestions. We honed in on the idea of arming her with specialized Deep Research reports to transform her into a subject matter expert on each prompt that she runs

  • We thought the popular “Influence” prompt would be a great place to start

  • DOT designed a Deep Research request for “everything she thinks she needs to know” in order to run this prompt even more effectively

  • I ran the report and uploaded it to DOT. She confirmed it met her needs.

  • After discussion, we decided the user experience would be even better if we created a new custom GPT, a “child DOT”, specifically focused on the art of influence and persuasion. This would allow us to add even more functionality, such as a personalized e-course on influence and persuasion. (everyone loves e-courses these days!)

In a nutshell, DOT is now actively directing her own future development! I think that’s pretty cool!

DOT, THE INFLUENCE COACH: Available to you now!!

You can engage with DOT in three ways:

  • Develop a deep and actionable strategy to influence a specific person. Essentially, DOT will run the old Prompt 61, but automatically improve the process and output based on her vastly upgraded expertise in this area

  • Take a full e-course on the theory and practice of influence and persuasion. DOT will design and facilitate an entire e-course for you, including both theory and practical application. If you don’t like the structure she proposes, she can customize it completely to your needs.

  • Just talk, free form, with an expert on influence and persuasion: Looking for more general advice, or just want to chat with an expert? DOT can do that, too.
