If you want to create great images with AI, there’s some technical stuff you need to know. We’ll cover those things today.
But that’s not the main event.
If you just do the technical stuff right, what you’re going to produce is optimized slop.
Unless and until…
You insert your own self into the process. Deeply. You show us what the world looks like in your mind. That’s when it gets interesting and real.
AI can help, but it needs a lot of guidance from you.
That’s how we make art with AI. It’s a process that happens in four phases:
Vision: What are you trying to do and say with this image? (this comes entirely from you.)
Composition: How do you see it inside of your own mind (this comes almost entirely from you. AI can help you finetune it.)
Technical rendering: How does it get translated from your description to a digital image others can see and understand? (AI does this, with some prompting guidance and technical best practices from you.)
Judgment: Does the end result work? (determined completely by you and anyone else from whom you choose to solicit feedback.)
